Default Re: Flat towing with no e-brake

Kris just as a note I spent some time with a die grinder and bent the equalizer bars slightly to make the e brake function . We run a stick shift and the emergency is nice to have in the staging lanes. Also gives a little peace of mind at the top end...Thanx Trevor

I was considering doing that as well, I even cut up a extra emergency brake strut and welded it together with some 1/8 flatstock. It still didn't pass through the c-clip block/wheel cylinder opening very well. Perhaps, the Moser blocks are a little bigger than the rest? I am using 35 spline axles and went with the bigger bearing..

I was thinking of grinding the strut more.. Then, I thought it would compromise the strength of the strut too much. They look to be made of 1/4 steel and I guess a lot of pressure is applied to them when the e-brake is on..

I used hubs and they were great. Just stuff the car in gear with the hubs on, and go. But, now days the law wants brakes on most everything so you may need a brake buddy like the RV people use to apply the front brakes of the towed car just to keep the law happy.

I have been looking for tow hubs. Where did you find them? Any of you still have a set sitting around you would like me to take off your hands let me know. Or let me know how to make a set
