Gear ratio for 438 cubic inch Buick Head Engine
I have an 438 inch Dart Buick Head Engine with a powerglide. The car weighs 3000 lbs. I am new to this type of engine I was wondering do anyone have any suggestions on what gear ratio i should run i have a 9 inch ford.

it depends on tire rollout,rpm, and such. just guessing a 6.00 would be fine.

1/4 mile or 1/8 mile? How many rpm do you want to be turning at the end? How tall are the rear tires?

If you want to do the math here's the web site with the formulas.
http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/calculators.html If you running an automatic allow 5-10% for converter slipage.
