Re: Charging between rounds ?
Jeff, the best set up is the East Coast Auto Electric Ultramini alternator part# eca-2025 one wire 50amp. Also get Alternator bracket set #2220 call them they will be a lot of help. You still can go old school and charge between rounds.lol Claude

Re: Charging between rounds ?
Jeff, my dragster has a mini alternator on it w/ 2 optima red tops. I never charge between rds w/ that car obviously. My Camaro I don't have an alternator, 2 red tops. Average day I only charge the car 1 time,

Re: Charging between rounds ?
Thanks Claude !
Jerry ! How many runs are the red tops good for before they need to charged ! I would be afraid to run too low with number of runs and even driving around pits etc. |

Re: Charging between rounds ?
Here is my opinion about charging your race car. NO ONE has ever lost a race because the battery was charges....period. Why not charge between rounds, what else is going on? If you normally don't have to charge your battery all day, what happens when the battery gets weak, or the car takes longer than normal to cool-down. You wouldn't be the first person to lose because the car would not start.....
Charge your battery, be ready to race................. |

Re: Charging between rounds ?
I have been quite happy with the Schumacher charger my dad bought for me at Princess Auto. Not sure of model # but it is approx 14"x14"x14". I agree with earlier post, why not charge between rounds when possible, and I do have a 1 wire Alternator. (you might not have time at Arnie's races ... in the latter rounds).

Re: Charging between rounds ?
I run 16 volt stuff with an alternator. Having said that I still charge between rounds. I use a smart charger so as to not overcharge the battery. I probably dont need to do it as the charging system works fine but as stated better safe than sorry.

Since I have started to follow his advice the battery lasts longer I got two years (it probably would go another year)out of the current one, where before I had to purchase a new one every year.
