No-prep/small-tire/outlaw street racer/social media influenc
I love Stock Eliminator.
I love the beauty and grace of sanctioned racing involving these meticulously prepared racing machines. I dig W/SA. I even dig EF/SA. But my youtube feed has been clogged lately with "social media influencers" to whom drag racing appears to simply be a medium to create content. So while the U/SA guy, with his agonizingly clean wagon that he's been developing for 30 years is simply background noise to the consumer-grade lemmings heading for the blue plastic portable toilets to return their $8 plastic cups of light beer, these character actors on social media are raking in tens of thousands of dollars a month, with their 1,500-horsepower LS/turbo powered cars artfully camouflaged as junkyard hoopties, often illegally on public roads, or even renting public roads to simulate illegal street racing for the sake of sensationalism. One clue should be that if they can afford to regularly rent a drag strip and a staff including a film crew, to test their car that has a parachute and a funny car cage, then they can probably afford to lose the duct tape and zip-wraps, and paint their car so it doesn't look like something that was abandoned and needs to be towed away. And as the father of a daughter, I also don't need to know about their idiot girlfriend's OnlyFans porn site. |

I'm kind of lost. What are you saying? You like Stock eliminator but dislike go fast junk yard looking cars?
They have a product that is televised and it should not and stock and super stock should be on Discovery channel? |

Don`t know about you, but I would much rather watch Stock and Super Stock cars running than a bunch of duct taped and bubble gum patched up beaters being force fed with "Power Adders" sashaying down track, hoping they can make it to the 1/8th mile mark before crashing or catching on fire. It is not true racing, in MY opinion, but more of a circus sideshow act. Watching live coverage of some of the big dollar Stock / SuperStock racing on TV s few weeks ago was far more interesting , to me.

High Octane reality TV...
Makes Shaffer Light Joe, think his s***box in the driveway is a race car... (No offense to anyone named Joe)... (Or that actually likes Shaffer Light)... Just like that garage monkey dude... (Makes me cringe that people actually buys anything he builds)... And others... But they have an audience, so... Then again so does Bachelorette... Personally I can't watch a lot of Reality TV... I know a lot of people that do watch that stuff, and most know it's not reality... (But some don't, and that is worrisome...) |

It's unnecessarily dangerous, it's stupid, it's pointless, it's often illegal, and as you said, it's not real racing- it's just "content" for some "social media influencer" that gets paid for clicks... |

To give an example, there is a small-tire S10 with stock suspension and no wheelie bars, that reportedly runs in the 4s on the 1/8.
It is rarely able to make a clean pass- it looks like they're driving about 700 feet to make it to the 1/8. They're constantly fiddling with a progressive boost controller to try to keep it from striking the tires at the top end. And not only does it not have a funny car cage, it doesn't even have proper back braces for the main hoop. There's no way that thing is even passing tech for an 11.49 lap, much less a 7-second one. But they've got at least three YouTube channels showing it racing on public roads, plus all their other social media accounts. |

What on earth are you guys talking about here! That is the finest example of Southern right wing redneck entertainment to hit the airwaves since the Beverly Hillbillies! So much so, that I'm dumbfounded to understand why this site's geriatric royalty have not yet chimed in.....You know, "Yaconphone", Randy "I've been racing Stockers on the sidelines for 40 years and your a commie" Wells. Let's not forget that Kentucky Derby guy, oh yeah. Call me Mr.(he/him). I've taped and got my butt facing the wall. Let the rants and insults begin in 3.., 2.., 1. Aaaaahhhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaa
