Default Approved Carb

How do you know if your combo has one? Is it in the blueprint or the aftermarket approved parts pdf? Are there any listed for SBF and FE motors? I thought the 302 was allowed a quickfuel but don't see that either. Thanks.

You need to call QuickFuel (now Holley, again). There are a lot of approved carb numbers that aren't on any published NHRA lists. You are probably looking at the 585 vs to replace a Holley for SBF. On the Holley/QF catalogue page is the following:

"585 CFM QuickSel'" vacuum secondary for Stock and Super Stock; replacement for Holley" 1.250" primary, 1.313" secondary venturi 1 9/16" throttle bore Replaces list numbers: 2818, 3043, 3139, 3140, 3245, 3367, 3419, 3420, 3530,3557, 3793,3795,3796,3806,3810,3811, 3814,3815, 3807,3836,3837,3838,3839,4088"

Hope this helps. I went through the same thing.

I think the blueprint specs list the "authorized replacement" carbs for each engine combination, Bobby. The accepted products list aftermarket units that have been approved for certain combinations. If you notice there are venturi and throttle-bore sizes listed in the blueprint specs, so if, for example, you had a later model Motorcraft carb with the same specs as the one listed for your vehicle you are allowed to use it. The Quickfuel carbs that were approved as replacements for OE Holley's fit about 99% of the combinations out there, but I'm unfortunately still a 1%er, the smallest they have is a 585 CFM!!

I looked back at my old carbed combo, and all that is listed is venturi and TB size. I guess anything goes, as long as those two dimensions are correct!

I asked specifically about the 1968 302 w Holley and was told NO the quick fuel is not a legal replacement. WAS 2 years ago. We bought the right core and blueprinted it. FYI

I guess the phone call would be worth it on this one.

The 1985 302 has a QF legal for that combo
