Default New to Stock eliminator

Hello all,

I was trying to even comprehend the class guide for what class our new car fits into. Its a 2016 Drag Pack with the 426 and auto trans. I have no idea how to decipher the classes. I came from Top Sportsman racing. Can you guys give me a hand.

Now I know why there is a lot of discussion about the rules they may as well be written in Arabic. LOL

Thanks

Curtis

It doesn't appear that the 2016 Drag Packs have been added to the Classification Guide yet. You may want to contact NHRA and ask them to add it.

With that being said, if you look at the 2015 DP w/ 426 engine, the Power/Weight factor is 6.96 and the NHRA HP rating is 460.

That allows the car to run in the Factory Stock classes of FS/A at 6.00 PW factor (2930 min. wt. w/ driver), or FS/B at 6.50 PW factor (3160 min. wt. w/ driver) or FS/C at 7.00 PW factor (3390 min. wt. w/ driver).

There is a term called "natural" class, which since your cars PW factor is 6.96, the "natural" class is FS/B, which encompasses all cars with a PW factor between 6.50 and 6.99.

The minimum weight is calculated by using the class PW factor (6.50) multiplied by the NHRA HP rating (460), then adding 170 lbs. (to account for an "average" driver's weight).

(6.50 x 460) + 170 = 3160 lbs. minimum weight for FS/B

Class is determined by shipping weight. Driver weight allotment is added after and doesn't change class. Car can be lightened to the top of the class weight bracket. This is a FSB/A based on 2015 rules if I read it right. Can't run in FSA/

PS: It surprises me that several hundred people have read this question with only Greenlight and this (Ford) guy answering. Thought there were a lot of FS DragPak racers here.

Here is the link to the 2015 specs for that combo: "http://www.classracerinfo.com/Classification.aspx?VALUE=76240&TRANS=0"

Would it be hard for Curtis to change his 2016 to run as a 2015?

Hello all,

Thanks for the info. With how much that thing weighs (over a 1000 lbs more than my T/S car LOL) if I understand you all it will be in C. From one of the local class racers they said it cant be run as a 15 as it is a new engine combination. Its an all aluminum hemi 426. So I will send off some e-mails and see what they say from the NHRA and IHRA tech departments. Your help was greatly appreciated.

Have a good one and stay safe,

Curtis

Look on the inner fender of your car on the right side (right from the drivers seat). There will be a tag with some info and a number. The number should be 2015000; instead of the three 000, yours will have your build sequence like 013 or 007 or something like that. As far as I know, they were all 2015 models, just a little late in getting done. Post the number you have just to keep us interested.

the tag under the hood is a 2015013. So now just to get the rest figured out. The paperwork we have for the car recommends c25 fuel?? I am not exactly sure that is legal in Stock. This is defiantly going to be interesting. But for the weight and what all of you mentioned I am guessing it will be a C car. Sorry for asking so many questions but stock class is anything but stock. Thanks for all your input.
