My friend, back in the 70's, had a 68 Camaro, 350 / 295 , base model , Powerglide, column shift, bench seat , small hubcaps. It had the square vent looking things on the hood. I'll stand by my comment about Camaros.

Re: Question on Hoods
I was under the impression that the only way to get a 295/350 in 67-69 in Camaros and 68-69 Nova was as part of the SS package. In the Camaros the 275/327 and 255/327 were available and in the Nova was 275/327 and 325/327 but you couldn't gat any of those packages in a SS.

Re: Question on Hoods
Who cares if louvers are vented or closed, if they are part of the "correct hood" for the combination/class being run, they are supposed to be on that car!
I could not run SS/JA with my combo at the beginning of 2015 because I did not have the louvered hood, which made my car an IROC or Z28. The louvers are non functional, just cosmetic. But, that's the proper hood so I bought one so I could legally run that class. |

Re: Question on Hoods
Thank you Tony, and yes you are of course correct. Seems when the Whale qualified in the bottom half (at the drivers discretion) while winning 14 national events all those years ago no one paid any attention ! Now the key board jockeys can move on and look for some new bull **** to dissect.

Re: Question on Hoods
Glad someone else brought this up! I'm building a 396/375 for my 69 and really don't want to spend 600 on a hood and then try to match 20 year old paint if I don't have have to. I noticed the lack of 'Super Sport' being defined in the guide for 69. Has anyone other than Tony had personal experience?
