Default A Son's Observation

During Jeff Lee's visit to the NSW site, Jeff's son observed, on the trip over to Coronado, a very interesting boat. He called the boat, the Bat-Boat because of it's unique littoral hull design.

I have on numerous occassions seen the boat and understand that the design is the future of the US Navy because of it's speed and stealth. This specific boat is the test bed for future naval ship design. The Freedom and Independence will be, by the end of May, stationed right here in San Diego. Jeff I hope your son will get the opportunity to see these ship when you come back in August.

Dennis, I think about 40. Superior maneuverability and stability, endurance to travel 4,300 miles at 18kts. The speed is a little slow but I would bet the speed in classified like the aircraft carriers with top speed of well over 30 knots.
