Indy will be 1 Qualifier and then traditional class eliminations on Wednesday for both Stock and Super Stock. Yes, both classes will run class eliminations on the same day. So that is different than Indy of years past, but certainly better than last years version. In addition, Indy now has the Allstars to stuff into the schedule so lots of things get shifted around, including the Allstars banquet. That will be Wednesday night as well and NHRA is fully aware of class eliminations may run into this banquet time.

In addition, if we want to jump to conclusions, it looks like tear down may be eliminated. It appears to not be any time for tear down, unless they want to do a pre-tear down on Tuesday.

However, no one seemed to notice the fact that they brought back the Monday Parking Day? OF ALL THE COMPLAINING ON THIS SITE THE LAST TWO INDY YEARS ABOUT PARKING, NO ONE WANTS TO MENTION THIS FACT.

You know what is ruining racing...forums and social media. Pick up a phone and call someone to get answers or offer suggestions. Those people at NHRA are not against the racer. I am as critical as anyone against the NHRA and there are certainly improvements to be made on a constant basis. I am on the SRAC for the Super Classes and in general I am in contact with NHRA reps every week discussing different ideas about all things racing related.
Do the all star racers still get torn down? I think they did that in advance and I do believe some bogosity was found at times. Maybe they should consider some pre race teardown

Any names for the NHRA reps you talk with on these issues? I think the train wreck that is the executive level is the issue. The customer facing NHRA members love racing and racers. The execs love….their paychecks.

What use to be the best car show in the 50 states isn't that important to the folks in charge and their fans anymore. Oh boy you get to park Monday. I'll be amazed if they get the quota of 300 of the best show quality stock and Superstock cars in the country to fill their fields. Maybe 200 Jr Dragster will make fans come back for more. Pay more for less is a great recipe. Half the sportsman racers will be done and gone by Thursday morning. How excited can you get for 12-13 top fuel racers.

The "Big Go" is going going and possible gone.

We can all just hope Rt. 66 comes back on line next year and the Jeg's All Star race is run there again. It looks to me like some teardown could be done on Wed. as cars are eliminated in class.

Basically it’s a glorified points race now. Pretty disappointing. But at least the parking situation is better.
Todd, you nailed it. I've been thinking about this since I saw the thread last night - and I haven't been able to summarize my thoughts any better than this.

I wouldn't give NHRA much credit for fixing the parking situation. Imagine this year turned out like 2019 (where no cars went down the track until ~2:30pm) - some racers would be going into round 1 eliminations on Thursday with potentially zero or only one rushed time trial. There might actually be a revolt.

The saddest part isn't just this schedule - it's the fact that once NHRA pulls off this year's iteration of the "U.S. Nationals" - it will become the normal procedure at Indy.

Just like no/limited tech inspection became normal.
Just like no/limited teardowns became normal.
Just like no class eliminations at national events became normal.
Just like starting the event on Thursday and running round 1 the same day became normal.
Just like quotas became normal.
Just like needing 8+ grade points to run a national event became normal.

This schedule is a direct result of the All-Stars being held at Indy. Hopefully it goes back to Chicago or even SN in Columbus next year! However with that being said, we could have easily given all sportsman classes 2 hits on Wednesday, including Comp, TD and TS, if NHRA ran it like they did years ago and ran us until way past the sunset! Then we could have done STK/SS Class Runoffs Thursday. Now we will have a few hours at best to prepare for Class Runoffs instead of an entire day! I guarantee with the schedule proposed we will be done before 6pm on Wednesday...other than a few 4 and 5 round class runoffs. If NHRA wants us to sacrifice our experience at the Big Go, then perhaps they should concede on the AHFS as a remedial consolation prize!!! God knows that the polls show that we do not want it in affect...or do the polls only count when its in a certain groups favor?!?!

Please reach out to your SRAC Reps and VP of Competition - Ned Walliser to voice your displeasure. All other NHRA personnel will not be able to assist with either of these issues(Run Schedule and/or AHFS)

The only silver lining is that the Hemi guys will most likely run E1 on Thursday to get more data for their Hemi Shootout Friday; therefore hopefully eliminating the over abundance of alternates and competition singles that has taken place in the last half decade!!!

PS: Parking use to always start on Monday's until they got rid of Tuesday Tech(one of my favorite parts of Indy, BS'n with fellow competitors from around the continent in the lanes all day)

It looks like they took 2 qualifying sessions away from all sportsman racers. It looks like the handwriting has been plastered on the wall. Very disappointed, to say the least, at these turn of events. How much more can the sportsman racer take before they throw in the towel.

Totally agree Rod, Paul Haszlauer said it best…….PAY MORE FOR LESS …….My next question is , Why is the Indy entry more expensive than the other National events ? It’s lost its LUSTER ….
