That is because it is part of the preprinted form, using the font "Futura".

Such fonts was not possible with typewriters or machine writers, as they only worked with "fixed-width" fonts, and because of the fixed width, they couldn't make that much difference between 0 and O.

But if you compare the white areas inside 0 in 55024 and the O in LO23, you will probably aggree that the area is clearly smaller in the 0.

You're misquoting here a little- that statement was Charlie A's; not mine. The way it's posted it looks like I said that. I already said that was because of that being part of the preprinted form. BUT- good to know about why the "O"s and "0"s look so much alike, due to fixed-width font. Thanks!

I agree with you completely.

Right, sorry LO23.

I intended to quote Charlie A, but as his post include a bracket with "QUOTE=LO23", it mistakenly quoted you. Now corrected.

Sorry, I know this has been a long, boring discussion, but I truly appreciate your thoughts and input.

No sir. The subject appears to be going in circles ( no pun intended ) . What it really is...O or 0 was the question. I have no definite or correct answer.
