Default New addition to the Classification Guide

NHRA added a 2015-17 Dodge Challenger to the Classification Guide last week. 600 horsepower at a 4500 pound minimum weight.

Just a few questions - Is this the "Hellcat", and if so what happened to the other 107 "advertised horsepower" that we've been reading about? Is this a "red-key" vs. "black-key" thing, and if so, how will it be policed?

Not trying to start a heated discussion here, just wondered how they came up with this combination that will run as a "regular" stocker.

4500/600=7.5 AA/SA 4500/707=6.36, No natural class , bump down one class and there still isn't a class . It still better has some good brakes to stop a 4800 lb car from 120+ mph !

Sounds like a production Hellcat to me

The Hellcat from the factory has 15.4 inch diameter front brakes and 13.8 diameter rears.

I would think they can handle the job.

However, drag racers being drag racers looking to shave rotational weight, those big brakes will probably disappear and smaller lightweight 12 in.brakes will appear....lol

Which, as I understand it, severely limits the choices for slicks.

I wonder what they are going to do with the Demon, AAAA/SA?.

Still waiting for the 632ci Procharged dragster with a Chevy/Ford/Mopar emblem on the nose that they call a "Factory Race Car".

Per NHRA guide the Hellcat is rated 60hp higher, weighs 1050lbs more and in reality makes far less HP than the Supercharged DragPak. Unlikely anyone will ever feel the need to build a real Hellcat as a class car.

I like that, AAAA/SA. Sounds like The Fonz took up drag racing.
