Are you going to drive this car on the street? Is it strictly a race car? If you plan to drive it, you don't want a killer gear. If I had a similar car to this and planned to strictly drag race it. If it's pretty much a stock engine, you have a healthy converter and a small rear tire. A stock engine is going to peak out at about 55-5600 rpm. For a 1/4, I wouldn't run anything steeper than a 4.30. If it's an 1/8 car, you can go much steeper, you could easily run a 4.88-5.13, you'll still max your rpm out by the end of the run. Just my.02

Yes the car also is going to be street driven,i was thinking of 4.30's to 4.56's it is a .60 over 307,big valved 5a heads,9.5.1 compression, and a semi dweller cam.

Re: What gear for my 307 Cutlass
If you're going to drive it on the street at all, do yourself a favor and run a 4speed OD trans, (200R4's work great), and you can run a 4:10 or 4:30 gear and still live with it on the street. It will even work well with a 3.73 if the street is more than the track use.
