Re: Min weight help
13.5 x 232 =3132 + 170 = 3302 round down to 3300.

Rules also state that you can move one class down or one class up, so the other calculations from the tool show the minimum racing weights for J and L, calculated be multiplying the minimum power to weight factors for each of those classes by the power factor for the engine. The 13.44 factor determines the classification to start the calculations. It is the numbers found on the spreadsheets that NHRA uses for that car-engine combination and is the starting point their people use to do their calculations. My tools does all that for you.

Re: Min weight help
And just another "Thank You" for doing all of the work in getting this site up! It's much (much) easier than the NHRA site. All of the work is done.

Re: Min weight help
and I would suggest rounding up to 3305 + 10 and not rounding down which would make you light at the scales

Re: Min weight help
Questions regarding running at minimum weight (13.00) with a 13.44 car and about moving a class up or down. Specifically, if a car comes in above minimum weight (ie. 13.44) for a class (K), is it allowed to run on the minimum (13.00) K weight or does it have to run at the actual weight (13.44) in K?
Similar questions if the Oldsmobile were to move to J, would it be allowed to run at 12.50 (minimum J weight) even though the car comes in at 13.44? Rules state that you can remove weight to the lightest possible weight for that class, so the minimum racing weight for K will be 13.00 x 232 = 3016 lbs + 170 driver allowance = 3186 lbs. Rules also state that you can move one class down or one class up, so the other calculations from the tool show the minimum racing weights for J and L, calculated be multiplying the minimum power to weight factors for each of those classes by the power factor for the engine. Can someone provide the page in the rulebook or a copy of the actual rules being referenced? Thank you in advance for clarification and to Dwight for creating a database. |

WEIGHT All cars will be permitted to run on the class minimum weight, but may be no heavier than the minimum for the next heavier class. Car can move up (lighter) one class or down (heavier) one class. If weight is added, must be properly attached; see BALLAST. Class
