Default MSD ignition coil ground wire

Some MSD coils are packaged with a ground wire that jumps around the rubber mounts to ground the coil body. What is the function of that ground wire?

Larry. It's an insurance wire to make sure you have the coil properly grounded thru the isolation mounts also helps eliminate tach signal issues--- Dick
