WTB bowtie block
I'm looking for a bowtie block to build a 305 out of. I believe the #10051182 is what I am after. Thank you
Dave

Re: WTB bowtie block
Dave try Patterson Racing Engines in Augusta Kansas, I believe Alan bought a few of these....this was last year, so I'm not sure if he still has any left.
I just got the machine work done on my own Bowtie, now to finish assembly, I hope it was worth the extra expense. Good luck in your search these are getting harder to find, Dart now makes NHRA legal blocks however, I'm not sure about a small bore small block. Turkman

Re: WTB bowtie block
I have a couple original in the box GM 1184LW Bowtie blocks ( unmachined ). I purchased 20 of them and built LW Late Model oval track engines out of them, I think the actual weight is about 40-50# less than a standard Bowtie block and this weight reduction was in then casting not machining. I paid $4500 for them and will sell for that as they are no longer available.
I also have a good selection of Uniboring Cup style blocks ( SB-2 & 18* Some Compacted Graphite ), cranks, rods, pistons, cams, heads etc. 23*, 18* and SB-2. I ship small parts out , a couple time a week and big stuff once a week. e mail ; mancinelli@att.net Sorry Dave, bore might be rough 3.900 Last edited by raceman14; 01-25-2011 at 04:59 PM. Reason: Bore might be too big |

Re: WTB bowtie block
Patterson will not sell the block unless you have him build you a engine with that block. I tried to buy it also and this is what they told me. Use the dart block and save the hassle.

Dave, I just purchased on of these blocks from RacePartsOutlet in Iowa. They told me that they had a few left. The phone number is 515-289-5288.

Re: WTB bowtie block
Greg, the number # 10051181 is the part number for small rough bore block, the casting number on block is # 10051182. The larger bore part # is 10051183 casting # is 10051184. Some of the 10051182 blocks mite not clean up when bored 3.796 then you need to sell it to 265 or 283 racer. Tom

Re: WTB bowtie block
Thanks Tom and Brett, I will check out racepartsoutlet and see what they say.
Am I correct in thinking that I can not use a 4 bolt block as a 305? The only aftermarket blocks on the accepted list is 4 bolt mains, so I assume I cannot use the Dart or World blocks.
