Brodix spec head is the answer. No one's going to watch a sealed crate motor class. And the answer is let Brodix make the call on legality. Takes all cutting, and pasting out of the equation. Works in roundy-round. And lets all compete. They already have mopar, ford, and chevy heads. Limit it to a single disc clutch, no computers, no vac, internal pump only, cast intake, no external mods, etc. Heads may be angle milled, and combustion chamber polishing only. Saves pulling the head. Makes tear downs easier. Also, make everyone actually clutch, and shift their transmission.

Guys I want it as SIMPLE and inexpensive as possible if it were done. Bordix heads okay here but expense? No sheet metal intakes. Need to think Auto trans also to appeal to more RACERS first then spectators will have a bigger show early in development.
Pre 80s good too. Chevy II, Camaro, Mustang, Dart etc. early vettes.. No aluminum cars.
I still think trying to NOT label these as Crate motors helps acceptance. Mod Motors has a better ring to it.
Anyone going to PRI?

I think Randy is on to something,is that the rules you used when you ran the heads up class at your track? I see spec head as only way to run all brands together evenly.

I'll add transmission limit to 4 speed,cause 4 speed versions are less $ than 5's or could allow w/ use of 4 gears though, automatic rule I say prohibitted,LOL if allow auto run same as stick no weight break,maybe give weight break to stick so encourages stick shift use, as far as $'s go clutch shift stick setup single disc,bell,shifter, cost about same or less than auto setup trans,converter,shifter.
Reliability or cost of stick is no longer a problem.

I have friend telling me about NMRA NMCA coyote stock class, uses sealed Ford Racing Coyote crate engines,DOHC 32V 5.0 and sealed computer,cost
$ 6,000.00,10X26 tire rule bolt on suspension front and rear,no wheelie bars think is stick only.
Said they are running 10.30-10.60 range,high winding,I heard 9K ish good show.

Dick has some very good ideas. MUST keep it simple, affordable, and popular. Just an idea, but here goes. 72, and older, min. wt. 3,000, A,B,C, econo mod, A,B,C, econo altered, min. wt, 1,500lb A,B,C, econo gas, min. wt. 2300lb. A,B,C, econo FC, min. wt. 2,000lb. A,B,C. econo dragster. min. wt. 1,400lb. No break-out. 1\8th .10 per 1\2 lb. per cube, 1\4 mile,1.5 tenths per 1\2 lb. per cube. No carbon fiber, or titanium parts except drive shaft for safety issues. No wheelie bars. 12.5 spec slick. Stock cam size journal, and location, stock size lifter, stock deck ht. 750 cfm for engines 300 c.i. and under. 850 for 301 to 339, 950 for 340 to 383. No belt drives. Stud mounted rockers only except mopar. (Imagine what cam co. would do with that.) .700 lift at the valve max. A whole new eliminator that LOCAL tracks could afford to promote.

Thanks Mike. Just as a thought. Our cobalt went 6.29, at 109.67 at 10.5lbs. That was our first year, and clutching every gear, with a single 10" rag. That computes to about a 9.89.Interesting to say the least. Buddy's dragster first couple weekends went 5.41. Capable of low 20's.

Randy we are all on the same page but I think limited numbers of classes to FORCE everyone to compete together not hide in another class. Three wt breaks good enough. Only Econo Mod... 750 carb, Brodix heads for all, same cubic inchs only car size or wt to separate them. Then the motors are all standard. Again Too many variables it becomes NHRA Flea circus again . One car for every class, ten cars for NONE.
Get it started with three classes and become a "THING" for tracks, events, THEN discuss needs for expansion. Remember we were talking about Mod class. No dragsters, No FC etc....
For chevy there is GM sealed motor, is there a Ford or Chrysler sealed program for the round track guys?

Dick, I actually agree. I will run econo mod. Was just trying to include all who don't have old mod cars. You're right. We need to k.I.s.s. Keep it simple stupid.
