Default Fuel Check Valves

Can someone please refresh my memory: Do fuel check valves have to be in the engine bay, and run off of the regular? Or can they be in the back of the car, and run from the fuel cell outlet?

I would prefer to relocate it to the back of the car if possible, but I don't think that it's legal (or it didn't used to be)..

Thanks.

It just reads between the fuel tank and the carb for Stock and Super Stock. It's back in the General section.

I have mine under the back of the Comanche; but most cars aren't high enough to get under the back!

Most fuel check valves are mounted under hood on fuel pressure regulator outlet port. MB.

Mine's at the fuel pump which is just below trunk floor level at the fuel cell. It's a 68 Mustang, so it's a short reach. One of those push button dribble deals.

Mine was in the back, I was told to put it under the hood.

Thanks. I've got a modified car that I'm putting back in service. The valve is in the engine bay, but I have a glass hood. I have to turn a bunch of zsus fasteners and put the hood on the ground every time I have to do a fuel check . It's a PIA.

I would have liked to use the second port on the fuel cell to run the valve, and mount it on the inside of the bumper out of sight. You'd think that that'd be fine, since that's where your fuel comes from, or is supposed to come from. Nevertheless, I figured tech would have an issue with the idea.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

From the 2014 NHRA rule book, Section 20 General Regulations 1.5 Fuel Systems:

"All cars in Stock, Super Stock, Competition and Pro Stock must be equipped with a positive-lock drain valve located between the fuel tank and the carburetor(s) or fuel injectors to facilitate removal of fuel samples for fuel-check purposes."

The cost of running a Stocker is going up..............

So now I need a hidden second fuel cell, fuel pump, 3 way valve and Q16 VP fuel so that I can be competitive....

When will it end, when will it end...
