Edelbrock 1406 AFB question
I have a newer Edelbrock 1406 carb on a street car. I had it apart chasing a stumble, and no accelerator pump squirt. Under the acc. pump nozzle is a little brass looking needle (flat on each end though) with a ball under it. The Edelbrock carb book shows in multiple illustrations of a small spring under there also. Can someone tell me what is suppose to be there? Spring, ball, needle, and in what order??? thanks

Re: Edelbrock 1406 AFB question
Ball on bottom, weight on top....no spring necessary.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 AFB question
Thanks for the feedback. I found another 1406 that looked to be never taken apart and it had the ball with the little check on top. But in the SA Design Carter/ Edelbrock carb book, it shows in numerous images of them dropping in the spring with the ball on top. Crazy.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 AFB question
RE: Confusion over 1406 parts....Not Crazy at all
Having had some experience with editors/publishers on this kind of problem, the human side of the equation is the most difficult to balance..... Always best to consult manufacturer's instructions / manuals. Edelbrock Owner's Manual for Performer Series (includes the 1406): Page 8 and page 33......clearly show ball on bottom, weight on top, no spring. Experience absolutely backs up this order of parts as well. Regards to All that like this kind of stuff, HB2 Dissident Last edited by Dissident; 12-13-2020 at 08:05 PM. Reason: spacing |
