Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
Joe,I try to keep it humorous but it's sad that if IHRA folds NHRA will have no competition.
I hate to think what would happen next. Nothing worse than being the only show in town. I really feel sorry to those who were left holding the bag when IHRA was sold to a little man who probably dresses in big shoes, with polka dot pants, orange hair and a big red nose. I think Compton dresses like that when he's all alone at home.Less the plastic red nose. If ya know what I mean.

Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
It dosent sound to good for the ole sanctioning body does it?????????? I guess if they go under the crate motored guys and production S/S cars are screwed. Almost as bad as trying to run a 427 1969 AA/SA Camaro against one of the blown Mustangs heads up. Either way you are F##KED !

Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
I would be one miserable SOB if I had to only race LODRS events, they are the most drawn out events ever. The reason everyone buys motorhomes is to sleep 3-4 hrs between rounds...atleast the racers are great to hang out with.
NHRA DIV 1 the home of the yellow caution tape...BAHAHAHA!. 161 ss/em 12 quickrod |

Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
I am pretty sure that this is a really good possibility. IHRA or Nitro Jam, whatever they call it now, is in a heap of trouble from what I can tell. Epping, VMP, Rockingham, where will it end? Where will the circus go now?

Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
What makes you think he wasn't (at least partially) responsible for this?

You guys are jumpin the gun here. Who do you think is responsible for these press releases. Usually somebody trying to create turmoil. I'm pretty sure Rock,VMP,Martin,West Palm, Baton Rouge,MIR are already under contract for 2011. You ever heard of the term"SILLY SEASON".

Then I'm good with that. By all means, if he's doing something for us, let us in on it. Division 2 racers would, for the most part, be completely stunned to see a division director doing anything at all for us, we haven't seen anything like that in years. Most everyone I talked to did not get much of a positive first impression of our new director. I saw him briefly, and he did not appear to be very interested in the sportsman racers. I've talked to a couple of dozen other people who were at Reynolds, and all but one said the same thing. If my first impression of him was wrong, and we see some real positive results from him, I'll be the first to publicly state my change in opinion and the fact that my original impression was wrong, and I hope it was.

Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
I also heard they were going back to San Antonio too.
I think the big surprise this week was Kenny Knowling stepping down from ADRL and they have no sponsor for 2011. When will the Shiek get tired of this racing thing and pick up golf, fishing, mountian climbing our whatever his next new hobby will be? |

Re: Rockingham and VMP to nhra?
Alan,
You will be surprised the amount of back door meetings these type of people go through before we even hear a RUMOR. This new division director has got to be given a chance. The weekend you met him was probably his first event, don't you think he was a bit overwhelmed. Let the man get comfortable and do his job. Chip Johnson SST2011 |
