I am somewhat new to a big block powered hard tail dragster. I am looking for tips on whether or not to use a two step to lower the launch rpm. If so, what should the rpm be set at, then how long before turning the throttle stop "on"?
seems to me if the launch rpm is low, then you release the trans brake button, the rpm will jump considerably before the first timer activates the throttle stop. Even if you have a small amount of time in the timer, i.e. .10sec, or...?

any help on how to correctly set this up would be helpful.
I have a 555 cu/in hard tail dragster with a #1 base plate "air activated" stop.
I don't exactly know what the converter stall is yet, I believe it is around 5800 rpm.

This is a question that will get you about as many combinations as replies. I have a HT dragster. W/O any other info. here are some good beginning numbers for you.
2-Step 5200
1st timer number .15
You need the RPM to flash so you can get the front tires out the beams for a good RT.
Now be ready for all of the other answers coming about how that won't work or how they would do it differently. The bottom line is pick a starting point and go race.

Thanks for the info. I am new to this forum and wasn't sure if this post actually made it out there. I re-posted with some other info about the car and what the car has been doing with the settings I have currently. It sounds like the info you suggested is in line with what i have been reading on other sites.
I am going to do some testing in a few weeks to try this out.
