Yes, they can be spun that high or even higher if you have the right clutch assembly. Although you don't mention the brand, I would suggest you talk to Rob at Advance Clutches or the guys at Ram Clutches. |

Yes. 10,500 consistently in an SS/DM. We tried other "trick" clutches, but ran our best with a single disc soft loc.

Re: soft lok clutch rpm
I used to leave at over 10,000 and crossed the finishline at 9400 with a McLeod 10.5" unit and an alum flywheel. I don't use a Mcleod anymore but didn't have any issues from an RPM standpoint when I did. I would highly recommend something smaller diameter and dual disc from a performance standpoint if you are starting from scratch.

Re: soft lok clutch rpm
thank you for the reply guys.i am putting my 400 ci comp engine in my fairlane for fun this winter.i could use my liberty and dual 7 east west deal, but wanted to keep it simple and run what was in there.a 5 spd lenco and a soft lok clutch(mcleod).just wasnt sure about the rpm, simply because the current engine only turns 8200,not 10,000 plus.grant.
