Re: Need gears and spool for 55-62 Corvette rear
Wade,
PJ305 called it right. If your building a stocker I'm pretty sure you can use a 12 bolt. Travis get's on here quite a bit. He's tech in Div 3. Last edited by Terry Cain; 05-02-2008 at 05:57 PM. Reason: added |

Re: Need gears and spool for 55-62 Corvette rear
Pretty clear to me (not reading or quoting directly), your allowed a corporate type PASSENGER car rear-end. As the '62 'Vette is a non-IRS rear, it's a simple swap to a GM (non-truck) rear. To be safe, I would say that it should be from a post-1960 GM passenger cars as the stock guide (or rules) do not have allowances for vehicles pre-1960 vehicles. Don't forget, it's dictated the width of the replacement rear has to be identical to stock width.
Killer combination with any of the 327's! Have fun..

Re: Need gears and spool for 55-62 Corvette rear
Wade..... it's NO PRBLEM AT ALL.
I have a 3800 pound 62 Chev full size car, Jerico, with nearly a 100 ft pounds more torque than a small block. The rear has been trouble free. I also have a couple dozen customers who have purchased a similar arrangement from me.... no failures ( these are all in 55-64 passenger cars ). You can PM me, and I'll give you the info on how to go about it.
