Here's hoping everyone enjoyed Muscle Motor Month!
With the recent references to Happy Hemi Day 4/26, amongst others in this forum amongst others, I hope you all in Stock/Super Stock remember that this was also Muscle Motor Month (with reference to either the cubic in displacement or advertised hp rating of Muscle Car engines), and last week with an extension from 4/21 to today as 4/30 of Muscle Motor week, made this month of April the most powerful month of the year for gearheads!
To wit: 4/01 AMC 4/02 Chevy 4/09 Chevy 4/13 Chrysler...per Steve Wann and his Mr. 413 4/21 Pontiac "Poncho" 4/25 Factory hp rating of the 426 Hemi, and the '71 LS6 454 Chevelle mill 4/26 Yep it's a Hemi!!!! 4/27 Chevy (including the Z11 '63 Mystery Motor), Ford's Hi Rise 427 well known in '64 Fairlane Thunderbolts, and the Ford SOHC 427 as well. 4/28 Pontiac & Cobra Jet Ford 4/29 Boss Ford 4/30 Chevy hp rating of the Z11 Mystery Motor. I'm certain there's some other hp ratings and possibly c.i. displacements of engines that fell between April 1-30, but this made for the most powerful month of the year, don't ya think???? 'til next year....

Pretty good Month but I feel cheated. My 68 GTX has a 440.

I agree with you John, as I'm sure everyone with a 454 Chevy or a 455 B/O/P, and for that matter the 400c.i. Pontiacs feel the same way.

Sorry Dave, but Februrary only has 28-29 days, and February would have to absorb all of March, and nearly half of April to reach your mill's c.i. displacement.
Thanks Dwight for the other engines you listed to add on to this, and I'm certain there's even more hp ratings than I listed for those engines that you and I listed....

I did a query on the ClassRacerInfo database and found these. Some of them would not bring up images of fire-breathing powerhouses, but for the sake of completeness. I left out the FS engines.
4/03 1977-79 Oldsmobile 4/05 HP rating for 1962 Pontiac SD, 1962 Chrysler 413 and 2003-04 Corvette 4/10 HP rating for 1963-67 Ford 427 1x4, 1962 Chrysler 413 and 2016-18 Camaro 376 4/13 HP rating for 1962 Chrysler 426 4/15 HP rating for 1963-64 Chrysler 426 SS low compression 4/20 HP rating for 1962 Chrysler 413 4/21 HP rating for 1962 Chrysler 426 4/25 1963-65 Buick nailhead and HP rating for 1965 Chev 396 4/29 1964-66 Cadillac engine 4/30 HP rating for 1967-1969 Chev L88 and ZL1 engines and 2008 Camaro 376

Re: Here's hoping everyone enjoyed Muscle Motor Month!
Dwight, those above add more reason to give thanks to Muscle Motor Month, aka April!
Now with regard to Dave's quest for his 283, while February may not be much help to his motor albeit the 220hp would figure into it, and even my Dodge Nitro's V6 is a 226ci mill, plus my former 2004 Chevy Colorado pickup had a 214c.i. engine rated at 220hp. However, March was a month that had some goods in it too: 1. The 302 Fords and Chevys 2. The 318 Mopars 3. The 326 Pontiac 4. The 327 Chevy 5. The 305 Chevy 6. I believe the 327 was rated at 330hp at one time? I'm sure there's plenty of other combos out there, but to all of them April Rules in the Muscle Department....
