Default "Live From" NHRA SuperNationals Englishtown, NJ

We are in line, and there are about 100 rigs in front of us. They started pulling rigs in about 9:30. No rain yet, but they say it is coming. The forecast is not good for today, but the rest of the week and weekend look okay.

The schedule for the sportsman is a little unusual. There will be no eliminations until Saturday, expect for comp. For now it looks like Thursday ss will get one qualifying round and then goes to class, stk gets two qualifying rounds and they are done until Saturday. Super gas and super comp get one and another one on Friday. I could be wrong folks, but this the info I have for now. When I get teched in I will look for the schedule and confirm this.

The rain has come, its a steady light rain and it should be gone by tomorrow.

Below are the schedules for Thursday and Friday. I will get the Saturday and Sunday later, but you know it will probably change like it always does. Man was I off, the schedule is nothing like I thought

Besides the pictures I take, and I know they are not great, John DiBartolomeo from Drag Racing Action Magazine http://www.dragracingaction.com/ will be sending me pictures at the end of each day. John takes great pictures, can't wait.

Morning everyone, they have been drying the track for the last hour, and it looks to be in good shape.

I don't see any reason why we should not be able to start on time today. The local weather is calling for a sunny day with a high of 80. The weekend also looks good.

As I type this, the sun is trying to come out. After my first round of qualifying I will be back, hopefully something more interesting then a weather report.

Just a quick report on comp today. Lee Zane broke a converter and put some trans oil on the track, we had some down time. But comp was done before the rains came.

The usual cars were at the top, although David Rampy was a surprise. I know he is fast, but I rarely see him qualify at the top.

Frank Aragona made a great run as always. I would say the weather is okay. it was 82, humidity 48 and bar was 29.73 the da 2500ft, with a 2-4 mph head wind.

A couple of guys had some trouble getting down the track, but for the most part the track was in good shape.

I hope to get some comp pictures tomorrow, just did not have the time today.

Unfortunately there was a fatality here, and the track has been down for some time. Racing will start at 4:00 starting with Motorcycle.

Super Gas and Comp are done for the day. Super Stock and Super Comp are schedule to run later, but that could change.

Its tough when you loose someone at the track, its very quite, somber like.

I will post more details later. I think we would all agree that the family comes first and I would not want to post rumors or speculate on such a tragedy.

As I type this, NHRA has released the name of the driver. Neal Parker age 58 died of injuries when his Alcohol Funny car did not stop and hit the retaining devices. Condolences to his family.

Sorry I did not do such a great job with the live reports. I will try to get more info at the next race.

Congrats to Sal Biondo for his win and Anthony Bertozzi for his runner up.
