I still have a custom paint book from the 1970s that shows how to paint ribbons, freak drops, lace, and other techniques from that period. There was some sort of paint that left deep cracks in it when it shrunk, and then required a million coats of clear to fill it in. That was probably a candy paint that had severe problems, so they marketed it as a feature for custom paint jobs.

Sort of like the adhesive for post-it notes, it was supposed to be a super adhesive, but would barely hold a piece of paper. Sometimes failures have a place.

It was called "Vreeble" and Metalflake Inc sold it. You sprayed it over a metalflake base and the top coat would split and shrink. Cool effect but you could close down a paint store buying up the clear to finish it. lol
