rear gear ratio
Hey guys i need i little help with gear selection for running superstreet,i have a 5.67 gear in my car now and the engine revs up to 8100 rpm in the 1/4 and my speed is about 129, but my engine peaked hp is at 7600 to 7700 rpm on the dyno should i go with a 5.43 to lower the rpm and increase the mph or leave it as is to run superstreet.

Re: rear gear ratio
If it was my car, I would change the gear. I'm assuming you are running a small block with that much gear. In my super gas car, I run a 4.10 and have been thinking of trying a 3.89

Re: rear gear ratio
Yep a V-6 can run fast. All it takes is HP.
It is not Super Street and it is a little heavier than 2,000 lbs and it is limited to a 750 carb. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZPI6eCN8pE"]968et143mph - YouTube[/ame] The rear gear is: 6.33 In SS/DS it runs @ 3200 lbs

Re: rear gear ratio
The sweet sound of a v-6 making power,to bad they do'nt make any more parts for them. What kind of power are you making and at what rpm. With a 750 carb. and 6.33 gear must be pretty high.

Re: rear gear ratio
5.43 will only kill 200 rpm. 5.14 or a 5.29 should put you where you want to be.
