Default Contingencies and Points for Jegs Stock/Super Stock Shootout in 2

Dayton, OH - The Jegs Stock/Super Stock Shootout, a special race first held at the 2004 NSCA World Finals, will once again be contested at all six National Street Car Association events for 2007 with two small changes to the program. Entries in this incredible eliminator will now earn points and the first champion will be crowned this season! Perhaps even better is the addition of contingency awards.

?The Jegs Stock/Super Stock program has been a great success,? commented NSCA President Tony DePillo, ?and we?re thrilled to add this eliminator to our points earning classes. These guys work hard and put on an incredible show and we really appreciate our sponsors for seeing the value in the program and putting up the contingencies.?

This race is open to all IHRA and NHRA legal cars and will be run as a "combo" race where the Stock and Super Stock cars will ultimately run against each other to determine a winner. Saturday's qualifying will be based on the individual published IHRA or NHRA national index the car normally runs under. From that point on, it becomes a dial-in race for Sunday's eliminations. Payout is $1500 win, $750 to runner-up and $50 per round back. Entry fee is $100 for car and driver.

Jegs began life as one of those neat little speed shops. Back in 1960, Jeg Coughlin Sr. opened JEG'S High Performance in Columbus, Ohio. Jeg was a speed freak, but was limited by his Midwest location that made it difficult to find the parts he wanted. As he slowly found the stuff he was looking for, his buddies came to him to build their engines, and before long he had opened the doors to a full-on retail business.

In 1988, Jeg's four sons, John, Troy, Mike and Jeg, Jr., purchased the operation with the assistance of their father. After several expansions at the original location, what started out as a 4000 square-foot speed shop now encompasses a 100,000 square-foot warehouse a chassis shop, a call center and the original retail store. Two other stores and two additional call centers are also located in the metropolitan Columbus area.

In the fall of 1999 a newly built state-of-the-art distribution center and
headquarters opened. There are now over 300 associates but it all started as a small family-run speed shop, and that founding company culture remains strong. The business continues to maintain the one-on-one relationship with their customers.
