Attn Cobra Jet Owners
Hey Guys, I am looking at buying a '10-'14 Cobra Jet. I was wondering how many passes you can safely get out of a supercharged engine? I know Ford suggests a rebuild for the factory engine after 40 passes.
Thanks for any input! |

Re: Attn Cobra Jet Owners
We have one 2014 CJ and two coyote sc powered dragsters, all three have 2.9l whipple. All are over 100 passes pushing 200. The most we have done is replaced a couple of head gaskets on the dragsters, because of problems when we busted the trans input shafts causing the engines to rev high. You will need to replace spark plugs about every 50 passes and tires around 40. Those 9 inch tires don't last long with that hp and weight.

Thanks! On your 2014 is that on the original engine or did you have it gone through?

Also if you don't mind me asking, what brand of oil are you running in them and what kind of fuel? I just bought a '13 CJ so looking for some advice! Thanks again!

We run Royal Purple XPR 5w20 & VP C-16 in ours and have over 250 runs on the motor.
