Default BS3 connectivity issues

BS3 software on my laptop will only detect the ECU maybe 1 out of 10 attempts. Then will freeze up before I can navigate the various pages. I have the Gen3.
Anyone else having these issues?

Don't really know anything specific about BS3 am an XFI user

Since no one has replied try the basic maintenance:

Reboot the laptop which am sure you have several times.

Update operating system - windows acts up when it needs important updates

Update all drivers may be corrupted or need updating
Use a different USB cable they do fail - ruined my 2018 season figuring that out
If a gender changer is required to connect to ECU they also fail - they have circuitry and software just like very long USB cables. Computer update may make gender changer out dated requiring a newer model with the right software / circuitry.
Re install BS software

Many of these issues are rooted in windows registry
You should not try to edit it manually
What happens is entries become doubled and many more when programs start. When searching for the command gets confused accessing damaged and out dated commands causing the computer to slow down to think and lock up.
There are programs that will clean up the registry for you getting rid of double entries etc and speed up the machine. Have been using a free program call Glary Tools. My nephew an old gamer computer builder used it for years it will clean up the registry and temp files which also cause problems when those folders are full. the program has a setting where it will delete only temp files older than 48 hours so the new ones you are using are left in place. It also has a utility which will search for driver updates another that will indicate programs that are in need of update and fetch the update downloads.

If you have not done most of this it will be time consuming just plug the laptop in and let it go. reboot when told and run update again on windows until there are no more offered. Just let it run all day or night.

Other than this basic stuff you will need BS help with their software and firmware.

I had an XFI problem. Changed both my long cable(7$) and then the short XFI ( only - 94$) and fixed the problem. I have a an old windows XP laptop - works fine!

They do fail after time have also had to replace due to changes from windows update. Make sure to get a new USB cable also I was using a very long cable which was doing exactly what you describe in your OP.
