Steel head for steel head about 100 lbs. Aluminum head big block vs steel head small block is about 15 lbs if I remember correctly.

????

When I converted my '67 Camaro from a Z-28 (D/S) to an SS w/396 375 (A/S), the car weighed 180 lbs more when finished. That was in 1985 so the engines used stock rods, cranks, pistons and iron water pumps. Consider SS hood with cast louvers, SS emblems and 396 emblems added, but removal of factory 4-piston disc brakes w/booster replaced by factory drum brakes. Additional bars were added to the roll bar and 2" x 2" .083" subframe connectors were welded in at the same time. Maybe some additional weight in the headers. All food for thought.

Dwight,
I did the disc brake change on my 69 Z-28 in 1970. I used all the front suspension on a 6 cylinder donor car. My old faded memory says it was 38 lbs different in the disc set up & that included the lighter idler arm, drag link, pittman arm & manual steering box from the 6 cyl. car.
