3rd generation Camaro rear suspension?
What are you 3rd generation camaro owners doing for the rear suspension? I got a guy who wants me to help him fix a foot brake car out of one. He is looking at 6.90's-7.0's. More than likely use the stock 10 bolt but put good internals. I need rear suspension advice, do we stick with the stock setup with the torque arm and maybe go with moroso trick springs or is it worth it to change it ladder bar w/ coil overs. He does not want to tub it at this time so we will be sticking with a 10" tire.
Thanks, Jason |

Just an fyi. The stock rear will live for a bit even with good parts but the ring and pinion are the weak links in it. Best money spent is on a better rear. Pete Z bars are an excellent choice. S&W makes a torque arm based set up that works well too

Re: 3rd generation Camaro rear suspension?
I had a customer do about the same thing as you with a good crate Mtr. build. The 10 bolt ate 4.56 R&P and internals. Put a spool in it and it still ate R&P, but they lived a little longer. He went to the 10 bolt out of a Buick GN and it has served him well. All the parts in it have more beef.

Re: 3rd generation Camaro rear suspension?
I used the complete kit from S&W on mine, and it worked flawlessly. Also I bought a real thick rear swaybar from i think BMR,and that really made the car work great-it made the car leave real square. As for the rear, you really dont have much choice other than to put a 12 bolt or a 9 inch in it,its only a matter of time before that 7.5 lets you down. It's a little bit of money i know, but your buddy will have a great working car after he's done and you can do it all yourselves.
