Default 305 2bbl Heads

Any opinions or experience someone would want to share on the differences in the 305 2bbl heads (434, 450, 614 )? The specific application would be 1976 305 dish piston 2bbl in 1976 Camaro. I have run across 434 and 450 castings but not 614. Thanks.

As I recall, most of the 434s and 450s were heavy castings although I seem to remember seeing some light ones too. All of the 614s were light castings. I also seem to remember the 434s and 450s being pretty nice looking under the intake valve.

There are 450 castings that are "clean" castings, i.e. evidenced by the casting number being crisp and readable. Look for them. I have only seen them with small (1.72") intake valves.

I found a set of 450s in the junkyard yesterday. The casting numbers were narrow compared to other castings and I don't know with them still on the car if they were a " clean " casting. Also found the 260 intake and carb but at $65 each from the yard I thought that was high. I had to look in the old car yard at Pick n Pull, the prices are high compared to the normal yard next door. I know but some of you might think that would be cheap but I do a lot of picking, buying, and flipping parts. Two big swap meets coming up, maybe I can get more 450 castings to compare to.
