Re: Drag Pak Challengers / Options
The Drag Pak Challengers did not have the small spoiler on the truck. Other than the motor, and the clutch pedal assembly, there were no options. I think the spoiler would make the car look a little nicer. I think I even mentioned it to Bruce, but I never followed through with a request. The spoiler was in the Classic Package on the factory showroom R/T if I remember right.

Look at Rand Warfords car and the colors, white nose and tail, black body. YES some (I know 1) came with a spoiler, AND I know of at least 2 others that came with trunks drilled for them. Ive seen the car in person so.... So....is it legal ? Technically yes the way I understand it.....would I run one ? Why ? its a 1 1/2 ducktail ? There are a LOT of subleties between the DP cars, ESPECIALLY the early pre 30 cars, Ma Mopar tried and tried to get bodies and parts to Roush, after that it seemed like they got the ball rolling and after ours and a few more, well the were poppin em out like cookies, AND all those appear to be nearly identical. Roush also moved plants right after ours (27 or so ?) and I think things got more standardized. Just my 2 cents, but I do know of cars with spoilers, and cars with holes.

Re: Drag Pak Challengers / Options
Looking at Larry Griffith's car at Indy last year, I noticed it had plugs in the deck lid where the spoiler attached but no spoiler. Garlits and Warfords did have spoilers.

Garlits car has the spoiler and mine had the holes so I filled them with a spoiler.. Looks better in my opinion... Saw somewhere too much drag... wonder about that.. Is it big enough to drag ??? Don't know....

Copied From the SS section
(quote)""Back in the day my 69 Z ran quicker with the front spoiler only... Time has erased how much quicker, but it was worth the effort. It also ran more MPH without te rear spoiler.. Seems like it was 1 1/2 to 2 MPH, but time has made the numbers fuzzy...I ran without the rear until Tech noticed and said it was part of the Z-28 package..put it on... __________________ Adger Smith 4780 SS ""(end quote) Peter |

Re: Drag Pak Challengers / Options
You should be able to run with or with out the rear spoiler. Most of the first five cars built (not 1 to 5 SR#s) had holes in the deck lid or the spoiler.
Some of the cars also have a hole in the roof for a SAT antenna. |
