F100/F150 Ford truck stocker?
Just wonder why you never see or at least I have not seen one what are the drawbacks for not building one? I beam ft.end is that the main reason? What about Rangers for GT same reason? Seems like maybe some decent engine combos I like the 300 6 myself!
Thanks! |

No reason other than the fact that nobody has ever built or raced one. Look in the class guide or on www.classracerinfo.com for the combinations that are available and legal. There are some interesting ones fir the Ford trucks, like Aerostar vans, Club Wagons and Econoline vans.

Re: F100/F150 Ford truck stocker?
I have looked at the Ford pickups several times.
None of the combos look promising to me. The engines seem to be over factored and the aerodynamics might hurt you on the top end. To be competitive nowadays in Stock you need to be at least 8 tenths under, unless you get lucky and never get a heads up pairing. Just my opinion. Now, an Aerostar van would be interesting to see...

I would not want to have to do a teardown on an Aerostar!! I had to do valve cover gaskets on a 3.0L V6 Aerostar years ago, not a fun time.

Re: F100/F150 Ford truck stocker?
I just looked at Dwights site, not much of a selection of Ford trucks listed. Nothing older than 1991, nor newer than 2000. A mid 70s F100/150 with the smog 460 could be interesting depending on HP, but not in the guide.

You can replace an engine in an Aerostar bout quicker than you can replace plugs LOL!
I have replaced a few engines in them used a trans jack and take it out the bottom no joke! I couldn't afford a stocker just was wondering about the truck combo heck I'm the only person stupid enough to want to build a Nash Metro to race! |

Re: F100/F150 Ford truck stocker?
Funny you should mention the 300, I was the one that asked for hp off last time around and was denied. It's at 190 and factory is 155. I could see it at 140-160 but to start at 190? naw, build a 302 car instead.
I thought about a mid 70's 302 at 140hp or whatever, that could be interesting. Be a bitch to get the vehicle in the guide now I would imagine..... |

Re: F100/F150 Ford truck stocker?
Believe it has to be 1980 or newer for a truck to get in. I tried to get the courier in several years ago. The Ford rep told me they were selling new trucks, not old ones, and refused to add it.

I know they are expensive to purchase to build as a Stocker, but I would like to see the 2011 and newer F150 pickups get into the guide... 3.7 V-6 5.0 2.7 EcoBoost
