Default RV fridge issue feezer cold fridge is not

Ok anyone want to take a crack at this? On 115 volt or propane freezer is good 10-20 degrees, fridge seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes works good 38-40 degrees sometimes it's at 60 degrees. I've moved the little thermistor all over doesn't seem to care where that's at, I've measured the resistance of it shows 3,750 ohms that was when fridge was basically 60 inside. I've read a few places it should be between 7000-10,000 ohms when in ice water, but I'm lead to believe the resistance goes higher when cold lower when warm...if that were the case wouldn't it be freezing all the time? Aluminum grate in back sometimes ices up and fridge is cold then melts off and fridge gets warm without touching a thing. Any ideas what to check? Thanks Joe BTW this is a Dometic 1262 fridge, yeah I know it's old.

Joe,
The freezer section should be -5 to no greater than 15. Also is the vehicle level while you are having these issues? Do you keep it turned on all the time? Ammonia refrigeration is temperamental and slow, but once it gets cooking look out. Depending on what thermistor you have, there is a chart that will cross reference resistance to temp. Typically a thermistor or temp sensor for that matter may be out of calibration or open. If you place the sensor in a ice water bath and then read the resistance that may be helpful. The 7000-10000 is a very broad range.

Try this,
It came up in a search yet I do not see your M/N that you listed.
It will help diagnose a blockage or if it has leaked though.

Thanks Sean, that info may be helpful, yes I've noticed their systems seem to be slow, to cool and recover. Joe BTW it's 1282 not 1262 fridge, memory issues again.

Joe,

What does it do with the thermistor unplugged? I could not find anything else for that model, other than it goes into a standby mode if the thermistor is out of range. Is there a fan or damper between the freezer and fridge section?

Sean, thanks for your help found the problem....my wife had put a bottle of Margaritta mix in bottom of fridge it had moved and was holding the bottom of fridge door open. Yep it was an alcohol related incident. Forgot to look for the obvious things first. Thanks again Joe
