Thanks for the laugh Larry. Do we have a pool on what car in which class?

Having working on a few Turbo Regals, I'd expect these cars to arrive with cut apart engine compartments to allow access to everything!

A cylinder head can be pulled with the engine in the car. Jimmy, Steve and I removed the passenger side head from a "pre-production" Cobra Jet in my shop in preparation for the Winternationals. The "pre-production" car had all of the original factor accessories like power brakes, power steering, electical junction box, etc. Our AA/S Cobra Jet does not have any of those items and is much easier to work on.

Engine in the "pre-production" Cobra Jet.

Engine in our AA/S Cobra Jet. You can actually see the harmonic balancer.

It's one thing to tear it down in a full on shop, it's another thing to do it in the tear down at the track but either way it's going to be interesting......and I thought it was hard tearing down a Max Wedge!

( Don't forget about the new Challengers ) ....laughing....This could be NHRA's wake up call to their "Factory Wars".....The new Drag Pac Challenger won't run within a tenth of the new Supercharged Mustang, .....Two tenths if the air is bad. Then maybe they'll take a look at the "REAL" HP..... Heck, I don't think the Challengers can run with Shaul, Barton, or Sorrenson,(even with water in his engine.)

The accessability in that engine compartment doesn't look much worse than the 4th gen LS1 Fbody GM cars. Thanks for the informative pics. WJ

apparently they designed the engine bay of the new car (05-up) with these engines in mind. I know doing the same thing in an SN-95 car is torture

Probably one of the more accessible engine compartments in the newer cars are the late model GTO's....rather nice to work on....and darn, they are gone......WJ
