Re: Help a super stock rookie
Chuck, nothing wrong with small tire car. I have 10.5 - 30 with ladder bars on my 93 firebird and I run super stock GT with a stick. If you setup the clutch good you should see 60' in the high 1.20s and maybe better. Call Jim Tarian for poring your cyl. heads 248-879-0815... Luke

Re: Help a super stock rookie
we ran a quay car, 67 camaro with ladder bars and floaters 22 years ago and went 10.29 130 with 461x . you will be fine get started. who ever is doing randy manns heads is probably the best out there.do have some bowties done by john haskell aireresearch. palliup wash. will be willing to sell those, wanting to update to new vortec-bowtie. over 7000 invested, will take 2 without intake valves. just went 6.16 111.59 eighth mile this weekend, thompson.ohio.if you have any questions feel free to call me 660-748-5596. although there are other people far more knowledgeble than me on this board. bob lasco for instance.

Re: Help a super stock rookie
A big thanks to everyone for the information so far. We are working on the cage and other misc. items and as far as the motor goes Im going to complete the 363 with the AFR heads, dyno the package, and use it to shake the car down. then we will sell the motor, less a few items I want to keep, and in the meantime start building a smaller combo.
So as far as iron heads go, the phase 2 bowties that I have would not be as good a starting point as the Vortec heads that someone mentioned? no big deal, the phase 2's were cheep, and they have not had anything done to them as yet. What area of the country does Randy Mann live, what kind of car does he have, and does he hang out on this board? Randy, if you can hear me, send me a PM. Thanks again everyone. Chuck |

Re: Help a super stock rookie
Randy and Michael live in the Minneapolis area. Occasionally you'll find them on here. They are running a 2000 firebird that they used to run in GT. Very nice people if you get ahold of him I'm sure he'll help give some advice.

Re: Help a super stock rookie
I have done several sets of the old Iron Bowties including welding and reconfiguring the exhaust port and changing valve angles a little. Go to my website at www.headbytes.com I can feed 363 inches with those heads NO PROBLEM!!!
