is it illegal to use the 450 to RPM shift in S/G

just can't have the tach lead from the MSD box going to the Biondo box... has to be physically (and obviously) disconnected

Yes, it is illegal to use the Mega-Box to shift on RPM.
The ignition must not be connected to the delay box in any way.

You can use the box to shift on the timer, or you'll have to use another RPM switch to operate your shifter.

It's pure B.S., but thanks to some idiots, that is the way it is.

Hook it up to shift on time, start with 1.0 and work from there.

long story short I have an MSD progrmable 7 that i use to shift and launch burnout and top rev limit functions. Its works very well but i was just looking for other options. I am hearing that alot of guys are shifting on time while on the stop. Does it hurt MPH or help? Sound logical for stopping tire slip. I have an 820 horse 502 in 2100 hundred pound roadster. I might try shifting on time to see what happens.

Just check your replays for the time the shift occurs on RPM, and dial that in.

LOTS of folks like shifting on time.

With your power you can turn the stop on at .01 or less and shift at around 1.0 (I am .005 on the first timer and shift at .08). as long as you don't kill it to much 13-15 rounds on a baseplate #1 stop you should be OK. Your 60' times will also be VERRY consistant with this type of setup and if they stay the same you can dial the car anywhere you go. Look at your data recorder and as long as the RPM stays leval or climbs slightly (50 RMP per second or so) you have enough power to pull the car through the gear change. If the RPM drops shift it further out till it stays leval. Be carefull not to shift it to far out that it may be on the stop one round and if the air gets bad you need to pull so much time out you end up shifting when you come off of the stop. Thanks alot guys. Mike, I am running a no. 1 stop and i have it at 15 out. I was gonna try .10 on the stop anything sooner than that seems like wouldn't let the car react and get going but I will try .10 and go from there. We were putting .50 in but had to use like 3 seconds of stop or more when the air was good.

Talking to Gary at #1 he told me it takes .2 to get the stop closed from the time it is activated so you should have no problem cutting a light turning the stop on at .05 or less. I had my door car at .005 to try calming the wheelstands down ant it worked great.
