Re: What Happened To Competition Eliminator Car Counts?
NHRA f'd up the Comp schedule so bad for the West coast guys that I am surprised that there are 19 cars. Two true Division 6 cars and one lone traveler from Division 1 is a sad reflection on the state of Comp racing as a whole though. Expensive class and tough economy = low car counts.

Re: What Happened To Competition Eliminator Car Counts?
Lots of comp guys don't like to kill their index the first race of the year in Gainesville. So, I am sure that has a little to do with it, but I am sure the economy probably has some to do with it as well.

Re: What Happened To Competition Eliminator Car Counts?
I love comp. I love watching comp. but the reality is, these guys spend about as much on research as pro stock. I respect what they do. But, if it's going to survive, it won't be imports that save it, it will be good old american cars with carbs and affordable induction.l

Some classes that would add flavor to the class such as a true econo funny car, a true econo altered, a true econo dragster, and a true econo modified. Like say, cars 72 and older only. The crowd loves them more and we're running a cobalt.

Re: What Happened To Competition Eliminator Car Counts?
Dave, that is too bad as we need more cars. It is also nice to have racers from around the country or it is just a big Divisional. This is the damn Winternationals. Other than Indy I don't believe that there is a more prestigious race. It is pretty much the West coast Indy. It will not be the same without the usual suspects from East of the Mississippi (Rampy, Fletcher, Team Barone etc).
Edit: Just noticed that Dan Fletcher has entered. 24 cars as of today. 23 if Kyle Cultrera does not make it. Last edited by Div 6 Fan; 02-02-2012 at 08:36 PM. |
