Default Computer e.t. and spped predictions

I'd like to hear some opinions from people who have experience with computer programs (online, or otherwise) that take either an eighth-mile time, or a 1,000-foot time, and predict the quarter-mile time from the numbers turned in the shorter distance(s).

I am curious about the accuracy of such predictions, and would appreciate hearing the experiences of people who have run eighth-mile (or, 1,000-ft) time trials or eliminations, and then run their car on a quarter-mile facility and have real numbers to compare with the computer predictions.

I realize that there are some uncontrollable factors (such as altitude, temperature, bite, and other considerations), but it might be possible to assess the accuracy of the computer results, if conditions were similar.

Thanks for any information on this. I'll appreciate your input!

The best and more accurate is Quarter Pro, developed by Patrick Hale.

Thanks for that information. I have used the Wallace computers, a free online site and believe them to be pretty accurate, but I haven'r actually checked them out with regard to quarter-mile stats, because this state has NO quarter-mile strips.

I'm not asking about horsepower numbers; just the accuracy of predicting quarter-mile times and speeds, when given the eighth-mile and/or 1,000-foot numbers.

I had the family software package. It was not very accurate at all for a stocker. I think part of the issue is Stockers have a tendency to run really well in the first half of the track compared to the second half. When I tried using the run completion on aborted runs it would give me numbers I could only dream of running.

I have used Performance Trends Drag Racing Analyzer v3.2 and also the Engine analyzer. They have produced very good results for both component changes and ET prediction with weather changes. Once you get your combination tuned in by using the match vehicle performance function, it has predicted very closly what different changes will do to your ET and engine RPM. I have used it for checking an 82 mustang as well as a rear engine dragster.

Patrick Hale was the pioneer on this type of software. Many others follow with similar software and others were copycats too. Patrick was highly involved as a racer in Super Comp, Comp and also as a consultant for several Pro Stock teams.

The two people that I like is Patrick Hale and Larry Meaux.

I was enjoying Larry's website(racemaxsoftware.com) the other day. You could e-mail your particulars and he will tell you where you should be and where you are missing it.

Greg,
That's close, but it's www.maxracesoftware.com.

Larry Meaux had an ET program in beta, but he took it off the site a while back. I know it worked pretty well, I used it several times.

Patrick Hale's software was for sale a while back, about 2-3 months ago, in a package deal. Look at www.speedtalk.com, I think the guy that owns the site owns the rights and such to Hale's software now.

Thanks for correction Alan.
