Re: 06/04 & 06/05 Race #5 & #6 at KDS Motorsports
Next weekend is our 3rd stop for the 2022 season. We will be at KDS Motorsports in Kinston, NC.
Pope Automotive is the title sponsor for the Saturday race with Bert's Performance and Restoration being our associate sponsor. Gates will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th with time runs beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday's title & associate sponsors was a shared type deal as close friends wanted to sponsor the race together. A-1 Heating & Cooling Specialist & Hilling Farms are the sponsors for the Sunday portion. All 4 of these businesses are owned & operated by CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers so please be sure to check their businesses out when you are in need. Gates open on Sunday at 11 a.m. with no motors being fired until Noon & time runs beginning at 12:30 p.m. As always, CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers will only do the Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash run on Sunday race days. I know there will be a church service performed by God Speed Ministry's Ashley Allen but I will have to confirm the time of that. Admission is $20 per day or $35 for the weekend. Kids 12 & under get in FREE. Sunday's sponsor, Hilling Farms, (Mr. Phil Hilling) will be providing a cooked pig & fellow racers will be bringing trimmings & desserts for all CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers, family, & crew members on Saturday evening. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend! Also, it's not too late to enter our points program. Membership for the year is $200.00. Daily race entry is $100.00. |

KDS Motorsports Race #5 & #6 Results
Greg Rowe won the Saturday Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash to earn himself a crisp $100 bill & be eligible for the 1st Round Bye Run. He was dialed 6.77, had a .030 RT, & ran a 6.771 at 98.60 mph. There was a total of 4 dead on runs during Dash for Cash. 39 cars made the 1st round call. Al Brister broke a converter during Dash for Cash & wasn't able to make the 1st round call so he received the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award. Steve Lucas got the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. He was dialed a 6.91, had a .033 RT, & brokeout running 6.903 @ 95.31 mph. Brent Pozzi got himself 5 gallons of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants PRO 112+ racing fuel for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package sponsored by Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants. Brent dialed a 6.68, had a .033 RT, & ran dead on his dial 6.688 @94.45 mph for the loss. Greg Rowe was the lone semi-finalist. He ran Mike Moller down to 3 cars. Neither of them were in big hurry to leave the starting line but Mike came out on top. Jim Reynolds (after posting on Facebook he was coming to our previous 4 races) finally showed up at KDS Motorsports Saturday morning & came out on top Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. Jim dialed a 5.77, had a .001 RT, & ran a 5.775 @ 119.27 mph. Yes guys, that's a .006 package in the finals!!! Mike dialed a 8.62, had a .042 RT, & ran a 8.572 @ 76.78 mph. Mr. Phil Hilling received the Auto Plus Service Center sponsored Paul Bunyan Award (Best Reaction Time) for his .000 RT during Round 1. CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers & crew enjoyed a great BBQ cookout given by The Hilling (Phil & Andrew) & Lucas (Steve & Leigha) Families. I think everyone enjoyed the great food, & fellowship Saturday evening! This week's raffles were won by Monnie Morris & Timothy Fletcher. Both of those guys received their $200.00 weekend entry fees back simply by gambling with $10.00. Now let's talk about the Sunday portion of the weekend!!! Timothy Fletcher won the $100.00 Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. He was the last car to go down the track during the Dash for Cash run. He was dialed a 7.00, had a .041 RT, & ran 7.000 @ 94.86 mph. Curt Smith Jr. was in the running until the last run. Curt dialed a 7.15, had .084 RT, & also ran dead on his dial with a 0. There was 33 cars that made the 1st round call on Sunday. Lee Truell broke before the run & was unable to make the call. Joseph Strickland got the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. He ran a 7.439 @ 89.21 mph on his 7.45 dial, & had a .044 RT. Dell Britt made his 1st CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association appearance for the year (Thank God Ms. Linda is doing much better!!!) & he didn't leave empty handed as he received the Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants 2nd Round Best Losing Package & got himself 5 gallons of PRO 112+ racing fuel. Dell had a .020 RT, ran 6.886 @ 96.03 mph on his 6.89 dial for the loss. Raymond Roland & John Lattimore (also his 1st CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association appearance for the year after recovering from shoulder surgery 8 weeks ago) were Sunday's semi-finalist. Both of those runs were probably the best 2 runs of the weekend. Raymond pulled up to the line to face off against "Fletcher's Boy Timbo". Raymond was dialed a 7.16, had a .026 RT, & brokeout running 7.142 @ 93.44 mph. Timothy matched Raymond's RT also with a .026, dialed a 7.01, & ran a 7.006 at 95.08 mph receiving the W for the lesser of the 2 breakouts & sending himself to the final round. Next match-up is John versus Dan Fletcher aka Dad, Boss, Financial Planner. John had the better reaction time, .013 RT but brokeout more than Dan who had a .018 RT making it an All Fletcher Finals! Father & Son opted to "Split & Quit" in the finals & it was decided to declare Timothy the Winner!! The did make a parade lap after pics with Dan getting the W on that lap. Jim Reynolds received the Auto Plus Service Center sponsored Paul Bunyan award for his .003 RT during round 2 of eliminations. Randy Chew received the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award after suffering motor issues after winning 1s round & wasn't able to make it back for Round #2. Our next race is July 16th & 17th at Farmington Dragway. More details should be coming this week regarding that race. See y'all at the track soon!!! |
