These guys in Glendora forgot they are an association!
That's right on the money, Jim...but there's a problem: The clowns on the board are the only ones that can fire themselves!!

Their departure could be hastened by a lack of support from the racing community. The Pro Stock guys and many Sportsman racers are pissed off at them already. If they get the
rest of the Pros mad enough something might shake them out of their tree.
It might mean the end of NHRA as we know it.But the tracks will still be there and if
someone committed to running it like a racing organization, not Barnum and Bailey's Circus, there could be a new start to drag racing.Fantasy, but you never know
Who woulda thought Communism would collapse in Russia,or the USA hockey team would whip the big,bad Russians, twice.

Question Re: Seattle - First Round of Pro Stock...

Anything less than Nitro will never make Glendora cave in without a huge lawsuit. You guys think you can stick together enough to file a suit?

From the looks of the Sportsman parking lot waiting to get in at Seattle in Toby Lang's pictures I'd say you got a tough row to hoe.

They can't run a pro only show. If so, they would have done it years ago. The only power they have is the power the racers give them. It doesn't take a huge law suit or the racers banding together to bring a little sunshine to this outfit.

They can run a pro only show. They have done it before at Gainesville when they sent the sportsmen to Orlando. Even at normal events they run all the pros then run the remaining sportsmen.

I might be wrong, but i think Bruce meant $$$$ wie they can't run their Nat's without us.Imagine Indy with NO SPORTSMAN racers.I think THAT would get their attention.
But unfortunately, you're more likely to hit the Power Ball lottery,at 75million to 1 odds.
Correct me if I'm wrong Brucie.

1996 Columbus, scheduled for mid-June. The race was rained out. The week after, they ran the four Pro classes, Top Alcohol and Comp. The downtime was filled with NMCA Pro Street cars (Tom Hammond and Mark Tate were two, if i recall correctly), and some other exhibition stuff. Stk, S/S and the three .90 classes ran their Columbus race off the week after Indy. So it could be done, if they had something for the downtime.

I was at Orlando that year.

Think corporate structure. There are several classes of membership. They would be hard pressed to totally exclude participant members; unless they decide to commit what amounts to corporate suicide.

I would think they could charge for spectator parking (including motor homes) where we normally pit.
I'm not saying it would be easy for them just a possibility. If we were all just not to enter.
