Charlie A,

Looks like you have your driver-side window open,,,,,,must have been a
humid day in Memphis....

Red with Black Vinyl-Top, had to be 80% of the 1968 Dodge Charger 383's out there.

383 Automatic's were everywhere.

1970/1971 you should have been classed in I/SA (NHRA).

Well, actually it was a 383-automatic 69 SE with Keystone Classics.

And yes, it was always hot in Memphis in the summer.

Don't remember class. I think Lakeland was IHRA or AHRA back then.

Love to be that young again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charger 383

Not too bad of a price, for around $3700

Options (A)
* Automatic
* Sure-Grip
* Exterior Decor Group
* Console
* 383/330 HP 4-Barrel
* Power Steering
* Tinted Glass
* Am Radio
* Vinyl-Top

Options (B)
* 3.55 Gears
* Front-Disc Brakes
* Exterior Remote Mirror
* Interior Light Auto Group
* F-70 x 14" Red-Line Tires
* Chrome-Trim Road Wheels (14" x 5.5")
* Tachometer

The 4-Speed was 'not' an Option, but was damn near impossible to
get with a Charger 383. You couldn't order it either, as the Factory only
built a 'handful' and shipped them to specific Regional Office Deopts
in limited numbers.

ETA,

In 1968 Dick Landy ran his 1968 'Hemi Charger' in A/MP. His main competition for
the A/MP 'National Record' was this East Coast Camaro (below).

I think the A/MP Class Record was 11.01 at the beginning of 1968.

* Dick Landy's 'first' 1968 Hemi Charger (received in September 1967) was 'not' an original Charger R/T Hemi.
* It was an original 'non' R/T with a Hemi and 4-Speed, and the only one ever built by Dodge.
* The Charger was 'chemically engineered' (acid-dipped) and had a fiberglass-nose installed.
* This removed approximately #350 lbs. off of the #3757 lb. Charger.
* The Hemi Charger was specifically built for the 1968 NHRA Winternationals A/MP Class.

In December 1967, Dick Landy landed another 1968 Charger R/T 4-Speed which 'was' a 'Hemi Charger', and
that car was built for the AHRA 'SS/E' Super Stock/Eliminator Class.

East Coast A/MP Champion

West Coast A/MP Champion
