Indy interesting????
A couple of facts Nobody has touched on yet.
There were 3 Drag Pack cars that didn't qualify. Every stocker and superstocker there went under the index in qualifying all 338 of them.

Re: Indy interesting????
Art, It's pretty well known around here that Garlits came back from Indy last year and parked the DP, no R&D or seat time since. Why he even bothered to pull the cover off of it and run Indy this year is a mystery to me. He only embarrassed himself once again. As Woodro said, "sad". Jim

Re: Indy interesting????
I see several class winners not in the field too. Just doesn't seem right.

Maybe they should go back to the old days. Class winners only, lose class become a spectator. This would make the AHFS work more effectivly

Re: Indy interesting????
It worked fine at the time. Gas was 60 cents a gallon, motels were 25 dollars a nite.
We left for the west coast from NYC with $300 in our pockets. Right now I can't go to a points meet for that. There were stock/superstock combo races all over where you could win a few dollars. And last but not least car counts there were only 50 classes in stock. Rarely were there more than 40 cars entered. Go back to the old way and a lot of cars would be useless. I hate the stumble box classes but understand it's a lot safer than hitting the brakes at the finish.
