Chevrolet Performance
Is there anyone at Chevrolet Performance that someone could contact about older combinations or are all they are concerned about is the new cars?

Re: Chevrolet Performance
This board and others have a wealth of information available. An older Chevy combination, someone on here has likely done it, or knows someone who has. What do you have in mind ?

Re: Chevrolet Performance
According to NHRA they don't have the engine specs for a LT1 in a 1970 Nova aka Yenko deuce. It has to be sent from Chevrolet. There is plenty of evidence that Chevrolet built about 275 of these cars including the VIN numbers of all the cars but NHRA won't put them in the classification guide.

Re: Chevrolet Performance
Some '70 LT-1 Nova facts:
- They are COPO 9737AA - Don Yenko took delivery of all but a couple of the 178 or so that were built. - Most were made into Yenko Deuces at Yenko - Several went into Canada in non-Yenko Deuce trim - They were available with both 4 spd and TH400 transmissions It's really a shame that these well documented cars aren't in the guide.

Re: Chevrolet Performance
Are you asking because you would build one? Or, just because you think it should be in the guide?

Re: Chevrolet Performance
Both. I know that they made the cars and somewhere they fell thru the cracks and didn't make the guide. Sorry my count was off. I have always thought it would make a great race car.

Re: Chevrolet Performance
The COPO 9010 was the "base " 360HP/350 CI engine option for the Nova---the COPO 9737 was known as the "sports car conversion package" which offered the F40 suspension and other components usually only found in the 427 COPO Yenko Novas--- you had to order the COPO 9010 to get the COPO 9737 package ---you could not order just the COPO 9737 package separately in any other Nova-- that is WITHOUT ordering a COPO 9010 car--hope this clears it up--- but without exception every COPO 9010 went to Yenko --their were a "few" exceptions 2 cars were known to go to a Canadian Chevy-Olds dealer in London Ontario, Canada he ordered 10-12 COPO cars but eventually only got the 2 cars a light green and a silver car--- the silver car was destroyed years ago the green car still exists--- NO other cars were known to have been ordered by or shipped to any other US or Canadian dealer-- what you got with a COPO 9010 was a" Z-28 Nova"--- Yes I feel they should be included ---the fact that Chevy did not "submit" paperwork either then or now is a mute topic---other "oddball" combination cars have been allowed to compete under "questionable" circumstances--MY PERSONAL OPINION ONLY HERE---FED 387

Anyway, Central Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in London, Ontario Canada was the dealership that got the two non Yenko cars. The silver car is well documented and was alive and well as of 2008 as several magazines did articles on it. Hope the rumors of it's destruction aren't true.
