Default Aluminum Brake Drums

Has anyone seen an advantage utilizing rear aluminum brake drums vs. OEM ?

I didn't get any noticeable e.t. out of them. A friend that worked in a muffler and brake shop for over 20 years warned me that they would crack once in a while on OEM applications. I pulled them off after two or three races to check them, and both were cracked! I "installed" them in the trash bin after that. If I recall, my pal Kevin Zaskowski put his car in the sand at Indy after one shattered. My .02.

I was consering putting in disk brakes on the back of my Nova project. I assume that the braking would be better and I would also lose the same amount of weight. Would I be correct on this assumtion?

Most of the time OEM discs will be heavier than drums but the aftermarket brakes can be lighter depending on application.
