Total Seal gas ported ring spacer?
Was ordering a set of rings from Total Seal and they asked me I if I wanted my spacers gas ported. I had heard someone talk about the setup, but wanted to know if anybody had tried them before? TS gets about $240.00 for a set and for that price I would like some opinions. Thanks RJ

Re: Total Seal gas ported ring spacer?
I don't know about Gas ported spacers but I've gas ported rings. Sounds like a good way to keep from reworking replacement rings every time you do a freshen up.

Re: Total Seal gas ported ring spacer?
I've known a few that have gone this route. Seems to work.
This is another one of those ideas that while legal, just make the racer spend more.

Re: Total Seal gas ported ring spacer?
I just talked to Adrian Pendergrass @ Precision Measurement Supply (210-681-2405) and he makes a fixture for doing them yourself. $140.00 and includes the Carbide End Mill. That way you only need the spacers ($30.00) and you can make all you want. Mill access would be needed. Give him a call and check out his web page Precision Measurement Supply.

R.J.
Back in 1961 there were some Mercury pickups built in Canada that had an FE engine with gas ported pistons. They were also equipped with a C-4 transmission. I would petition the NHRA for the rightfull parts that should be superceded for your car based on that truck from 1961 so that you can just run a gas ported piston instead of all those high tech expensive ring spacers.
