Re: 1970 Indy stock class auto winners
Got it already! From thread t=62510 I have scribbled.
Some of them I have down "B" for "Brake Light" run on the winning car - no way MPH would be that slow. I did have a few question marks left - - - B/SA Auman - guessing 427 COPO Camaro? E/SA Rinaldi - 426/415 belv 3-seat wagon? E/SA Cureton- GTO Judge RA3 or RA4? I/SA Merkel - 428cj Fairlane Ragtop non-shaker (340 factored hp) I/SA Gage - 409/340 ? J/SA Snyder - L35 Biscuit ? (also has a facebook page!) Also IIRC Dick Butler wrote back on here saying he was the R/U car in O/SA with his 56 Chev 150 wagon, 265/225 powerglide, 14.27 at 94.4 Always looking for more of these sheets. Very short on stuff from 1962-63-64-65-66 |

"...E/SA Cureton- GTO Judge RA3 or RA4?..."
Guessing that would have to be a RA3. I have lots of '69 Judge pics showing D. Assume those would be RA4. But, I think at some tracks the RA4 would be put in C. That's how it was at my home track, in '74. They put my RA3 in D/S. But a RA4 would have been C/S. The car in the 2nd pic has "Ram Air" on the scoop, NOT Ram Air IV, & it's running D/S. BUT, the letters obviously don't prove anything. I even found a Judge marked F/SA. Last edited by oldskool; 08-29-2021 at 12:52 AM. |
