Re: 11/19 & 11/20 @ CP Races #11 & #12-Finale
One week from today, Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway will open their gates for our CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association season finale. Gates will be open on Friday afternoon/evening for parking only, no testing. This will be the final hoorah for our 2022 season & a championship will be decided! Our Top 3 coming into the last race is Mike Moller with 210 points, Homer Carty with 175 points, & Raymond Roland (2021 Champion) with 165 points.
Saturday, gates will open at 10 a.m. with time runs beginning at 11 a.m. Admission is $20 per day or a 2 day pass is $30. Kids 12 & under FREE with paid adult. Edwards Heating & Air, out of Jacksonville, NC is the Saturday title sponsor with Brister Racing being the associate sponsor. Saturday, we will get 1 time run, then our normal Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash, & then into eliminations. Racers will pay your entry at the gate but you will still need to check in at Tabitha Moore Draughon's trailer. On Sunday, gates will open at 10 a.m., God Speed Ministry church service performed by Dale Taylor at 11 a.m., & Dash for Cash only for CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association competitors falling in rotation starting at 12 p.m. Cars CAN NOT be cranked on Sunday until 12 noon. Walton Trailer Sales INC, also out of Jacksonville, NC, is our Sunday title sponsor & once again Brister Racing is the associate sponsor. All of these sponsors mentioned above have ties to drag racing so please be sure to check out their businesses if you are in need of heating/AC work or a new trailer. Be sure to tell them you read about them through CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association. This race weekend will be the First Annual Karen Hardee Warren Memorial race. This world lost Mrs. Karen a few months back & the track just hasn't been the same without her presence there. Let's go out with a bang & give Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway fans the best show of the year for CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association. As always, the more entries, the more the payout! Leigh Anne Flynt & I still have that goal of reaching 50 cars at one event. Also, don't forget about our cookout on Saturday following the Dash for Cash. There will be plenty of good food, fun, & fellowship! If you have any questions &/or concerns, please get in touch with Tabitha Moore Draughon or Leigh Anne Flynt. We look forward to seeing everyone next weekend! Last edited by Tabitha Draughon; 11-11-2022 at 06:28 PM. |

Due to Sunday's cold weather forecast, with high temperatures not making it out of the 40's, the track has decided to cancel Sunday's event. To be consistent with the first race of the year, we will double points, double entry fee, & double the payout for Saturday's race. Due to time restraints & trying to beat the weather, we will only run 1 time run tomorrow/Dash for Cash with the winner receiving $200.00.

To all who know me, getting me speechless is pretty much unheard of but today Charles Myers did just that! To receive this special award, The Spirit of Karen Hardee Warren Memorial Award, is one that I will always treasure. Mrs. Karen was a very special lady to me & I miss her dearly. The dragstrip definitely isn't the same without her presence there. It was also an honor to stand alongside my sister from another mister, Leigh Anne Flynt as both of us received this award. Thank you once again to Charles, Mr. Ronnie, & The Warren Family that was all there today. I love you guys!!!

Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway Race #11/#12 Results:
Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway & CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association officials made the agreement on Friday late evening to cancel the Sunday portion of the weekend with projected temps in the upper 40's so Saturday was double entry fee, double points (to stay consistent with our 1st race of the year), & double payout. We also made the adjustment to only do a "blind" Dash for Cash sponsored by Warren Engines as our only run for the day before starting eliminations. Robbie Draughon was the winner of the $200.00 for his 5.529 on his 5.52 dial. He was also eligible for the 1st round bye but came up a little short on that round & was also awarded the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. He was once again dialed on a 5.52 but was a little behind on the starting line & ran a 5.534 at 117.58 mph. We had a total of 34 cars make the 1st round call. Jim Morgan got an early start on his racing fuel pile for the 2023 season as he received 10 gallons of Renegade PRO 112+ racing fuel sponsored by Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants/Ford's Fuel and Propane for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package. Mr. Jim & his wife said he didn't earn it but we still awarded him with it. He got on his brakes a bit too much for the loss during R2. He was dialed a 6.65, had a 0.081 RT, & ran a 6.681 on the brakes. Steve Johnson was the lone semi-finalist in his gear jamming, wheel standing Chevy II Nova. He was dialed on a 5.55 most of the day & was still on that trusty 5.55 when he came up short against Dewitt Pope in the semi's. Steve had his worst light of the day with a 0.077 & ran a 5.617 at 122.77 mph. Avery McLawhorn was the winner of the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan Award (Best Reaction Time) for his 0.003 RT in R2 of eliminations. The finals brought our 2021 CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association Champion, Raymond Roland, up against a first time finalist for CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association, Dewitt Pope. Neither wanted to get bit by the nasty red bulb so both were a tad bit tardy in the finals. Raymond came out with the win over Dewitt. Raymond was dialed a 6.68, had a 0.102 RT, & ran a 6.689 at 100.10 mph while Dewitt was a little better at the hit with a 0.087 RT, but ran too quick, 7.043 at 93.54 mph on his 7.06 dial. Homer Carty & Avery McLawhorn both had car issues during eliminations so each of them were awarded the Hard Luck Award sponsored by McLawhorn Racing. CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association would like to say THANK YOU to Mr. Ronnie, Charles, & all the staff of Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway for hosting this weekend's events. Leigh Anne & I were both surprised on Saturday during pre-race ceremonies as we were given The Spirit of Karen Warren Award for our efforts keeping the CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association alive & well. We hope we both make Mrs. Karen proud!!! A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all our sponsors & racers for a successful 2022 race season! We couldn't have done it without all of y'all!
