Tire choice for stick shift stocker
Building a local stick shift car along the lines of a stick shift stocker with 9" tire. Car weighs about 3200#, will run mid 10s. Need a tire recommendation.

Re: Tire choice for stick shift stocker
I had good luck with a HOOSIER 18200D07. Went mid 9's with a 3500lb stick shift stocker. If you decide that's the way you want to go. message me and I could get some drop shipped to you.

Re: Tire choice for stick shift stocker
Sounds like your combo runs about the same weight and ET as mine.
I have ran the 29.5 x 9 M/T stick Stocker tire for the past 5 years. That's the best stick tire I have found hands down. Only two Stock/SS guys with stick shift finished in the top ten both run M/T, need I say more. Call M/T and ask for Buddy he's real easy to deal with. As far as tire life goes I get around 1 season out of a set

Re: Tire choice for stick shift stocker
Thanks for the replies... Very helpful.
Anyone have any trans ratio recommendations? Going to run a liberty and didn't want to get stuck with a bunch a ratios. Thanks again! |

Re: Tire choice for stick shift stocker
The 30x9 D07 Hoosier works well for me, bought per Curtis Coulter's recommendation, former D/S record holder.
First gear should be at least 3.08, and some use 3.19 or 3.29. |

Re: Tire choice for stick shift stocker
I have also used the Hoosier 18200 (30/9-15) with the “D07” compound and they are amazing. I can honestly say that the car with a Jerico and the Hoosier Stick tire is much more consistent than it ever was with an automatic and radials. I won two National Events and one Divisional on my last set. (NHRA and IHRA)
